On December 11, 2018, PenSPRA held its Eastern/Central Region Chapter Meeting at the offices of the Unionville Chadds Ford School District. More than 20 members gathered to hear two timely and innovative presentations.
Jeannie Hagen, Director of Community Outreach & Communications at Hatboro Horsham District discussed two events she organizes that build business, alumni, and community relationships while supporting students. The first event is a High School Financial Reality Fair where 40 vendors provide high school students with the opportunity to participate in a game that resembles life's financial challenges. The second event titled, "When I Grow Up"-- K-12 Career Expo, has 50 exhibitors offering students K-12 a day full of career engaging activities.
Christa M. Fazio, Communications Coordinator at Unionville-Chadds Ford School District discussed the See Something, Say Something program sponsored by the Sandy Hook Promise Organization. The program was recently rolled out in UCFSD at the high school and middle school as part of the district's wellness efforts and in anticipation of the adoption of PDE's Safe2Say Something Anonymous Reporting System expected to launch in January. UCF presented the roll-out of the program, highlighted the communication strategies, and outlined the district's plan to support the launch of Safe2Say Something.
