Congratulations to this year's PenSPRA scholarship recipients!

The Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association annually awards two, one-year scholarships to worthy high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in a communications field, such as journalism, English, public relations, advertising, marketing and graphic arts.

This year, we are honored to announce that the recipients of the 2019 Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association Scholarship are Caroline Khoury of North Pocono High School and Tara Marsh of Lincoln Senior High School.

The selection committee was impressed by Caroline's high cumulative GPA, her future plans to study film and media arts at Temple University in the fall, her school and community service, and her outstanding essay that explained her passion for storytelling.

Likewise, the committee was moved by Tara's strong academic performance and her desire to use communication to leave "a legacy of radical hope wherever I go." Her emphasis on using her talent and energy to make the better world a better place were clear and evident in her essay. Tara plans to major in communications at Geneva College.

These two exceptional students will receive a certificate of achievement as well as a scholarship check for $1,000.

Congratulations again, Caroline and Tara!

We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Sara Welch, coordinator of communications & public relations at Keystone Oaks School District, for serving as the Scholarship Program Chair and coordinating the application process. Sara had the wonderful, but difficult job of judging numerous talented applicants and choosing just two to receive this prestigious scholarship. Thank you again, Sara for all of your hard work and dedication to supporting future communications professionals.
